Key Achievements

  • Developed a comprehensive digital intervention application to engage Black adolescents & caregivers in depression treatment for a R21 research intervention.

  • Effectively co-designed with a team of 15 Black youth and researchers at NYU

Using Participatory research methods we compensated a team of 15 Black youth experiencing depression to become co-designers in developing a complementary mental health app for youth in therapy. Together we developed:

  • Videos produced by Black youth with mental health experiences relaying key messages that decrease barriers to engagement in therapeutic services.

  • Engaging, personalized digital tools that complement a therapeutic intervention for Black youth with depression. This app provides personalized, expert guidance and support for Black youth in New York City who are starting therapy. This app offers activities and videos that accompany youth on their therapy journey, and increase engagement through scheduling, reminders and updates about progress.
